Kundalini Sadhana

The term ‘Kundalini' has become very flexible in its meaning, often used to mean different things by different people. The meaning of the word has shifted over time and across various contexts, leading to changes in its interpretation and significance.

An authoritative book on Kundalini written by someone other than a Sanskrit expert is unlikely comprehensive, as most sources are untranslated and exist only in manuscript form. This lack of definitive works leads to considerable speculation.

The traditional belief describes 'Kundalini' as a latent energy within a person, said to be coiled at the spine's base and awakened through yoga, leading to spiritual empowerment and salvation. However, intriguingly, this idea of dormant potential energy is absent in early Sanskrit texts where the term 'kundalini' first appears.

The 'Kundalini Yoga' currently taught in numerous yoga studios represents a modern interpretation that diverges from traditional practices associated with the 'Kundalini' concept. This contemporary form has been crafted and popularised by several new-age gurus.

It's essential to understand that Kundalini is more than just a concept; it's an integral part of the spiritual process. It's not a static force but a dynamic one that interacts with our consciousness and being. Engaging with Kundalini is not just about recognising its presence but actively participating in practices that enable its awakening and movement, leading to profound transformations in one's experience of life and reality.

Awakening Kundalini involves specific Mantras, (pranayama) breathwork, and Dhyana (meditation). These methods uncoil and activate this dormant energy, facilitating a transformative experience. The mantras linked with Kundalini possess the power to unlock deeper levels of awareness.
